The Challenge
Fareham College were redeveloping their former sports hall into a new state-of-the-art Energy Hub — a £1.4m facility designed to train the next generation of solar, battery storage, and EV installers. As part of the project, the client required a solar PV system that would not only deliver renewable energy for the building, but also serve as a live training tool for students, showcasing industry-standard equipment in action.
Our Solution
PV Plus supplied and installed:
-
138 x JA Solar panels (total 53kWp)
-
1 x SolarEdge 50kW inverter
-
Van der Valk flat roof mounting system
The SolarEdge technology provided advanced monitoring and safety features, ensuring both reliable system performance and a valuable teaching resource for the college. Our team also worked with the college to select and integrate additional training equipment within the Energy Hub, creating a facility aligned with real-world renewable energy installations.
The Result
The system is expected to generate approximately 52.6 MWh of clean electricity each year, helping to offset the Energy Hub’s demand while reducing the college’s carbon footprint. The Energy Hub now combines rooftop solar with EV charging, heat pumps, and smart home technology — creating an industry-leading space where students can gain hands-on experience with the latest sustainable technologies.
