The Challenge

The project required a system that could handle a significant load, with careful electrical design to ensure compliance with the school’s existing infrastructure. A 100A AC supply was required to accommodate the size of the installation, and the design needed to balance safety, compliance, and energy performance while integrating seamlessly onto the Van Der Valk flat roof mounting system.

Our Solution

PV Plus completed the installation by:

• Fitting 186x JA Solar 410W panels on Van Der Valk flat roof mounting systems

• Installing 93x SolarEdge P850 optimisers to maximise panel performance and provide module-level monitoring

• Commissioning a 66kW SolarEdge inverter, supported by a new 100A AC supply to safely manage the system’s output

• Working closely with the school to deliver the project with minimal disruption to day-to-day activities

The Result

The system provides a total capacity of 76.3kWp, generating approximately 72.8 MWh of renewable energy each year. This results in a carbon saving of around 17 tonnes of CO₂ annually. The installation delivers significant long-term financial savings for Hounsdown School while helping meet sustainability targets and providing an educational asset for students.
