IQL London
3.4kWp
Zinco System
Overview
This project involved delivering a small but technically challenging off-grid solar PV and battery storage system right in the centre of London. Despite the modest system size, the urban setting meant logistics were complex — from road closures and restricted delivery slots to managing noise and crane access. PV Plus worked closely with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth installation with minimal disruption.

The Challenge
The client required a reliable, self-sufficient power supply without connection to the grid. The system had to be designed around the tight footprint of a central London rooftop and installed safely within strict logistical and planning constraints.
Our Solution
PV Plus supplied and installed:
-
10 x JA Solar panels (total 3.4 kWp)
-
1 x Fronius inverter
-
ZinCo mounting kit (non-penetrative, suitable for the roof build-up)
-
1 x Tesla Powerwall 2 with Gateway
The system was designed to maximise generation for on-site use, with the Powerwall providing overnight and backup supply. Our team coordinated access permits and equipment lifting, overcoming the unique challenges of working in a busy city centre.
The Result
The completed off-grid system generates approximately 3.4 MWh of renewable electricity annually, avoiding around 0.79 tonnes of CO₂ each year. It provides the client with clean, quiet, and resilient power — avoiding the noise and pollution of diesel generators while showcasing the potential of solar and storage in dense urban environments.
Why PV Plus
Our experience working on complex, logistically challenging sites meant we could deliver this off-grid project without compromise. PV Plus combined technical know-how with careful planning to provide a robust solution in one of the most difficult installation environments.
