Overview
PV Plus delivered a large-scale solar PV project across three buildings at King Edward VI School, Southampton, totalling 162kWp. The installation supports the school’s sustainability strategy and reduces operational energy costs while integrating across both pitched and flat roof areas.

The Challenge
The project required three separate solar systems, each with its own MPAN, spread across different roof types: Bauder flat roof, pitched Renusol, and sports hall roofing. Close coordination was needed to manage multiple inverters, ensure DNO compliance, and deliver within a live school environment.
Our Solution
PV Plus installed a total of 395 JA Solar 410W panels (161.95kWp) configured as follows:

Central Building – 152 panels on Bauder flat roof, linked to a 66.6kW SolarEdge inverter

Right / Sports Hall – 142 panels (24 pitched + 123 flat roof), linked to a 50kW SolarEdge inverter

Left Science Block – 96 panels on pitched roof with Renusol mounts, linked to a 30kW SolarEdge inverter
Each system was designed with SolarEdge optimisation for maximum performance and to support the school’s long-term energy strategy.
The Result
The combined systems will generate around 154 MWh of renewable energy annually, saving approximately 36 tonnes of CO₂ per year. This reduces the school’s grid reliance and supports its wider Net Zero ambitions.
