Purdy’s Social Housing

3kWp

On roof System

Overview

PV Plus partnered with Purdy Contracts Ltd to deliver a large-scale solar PV retrofit programme across more than 100 occupied social housing properties. Each home was fitted with a complete 3kWp system using Tier 1 solar panels, Solis single-phase inverters and full ArcBox protection, ensuring every installation met the highest standards of safety and reliability. To provide full visibility of system performance, Passiv smart meters were installed, enabling the entire portfolio to be remotely monitored in real time.

The Challenge

Delivering consistent, high-quality installations across a large number of occupied homes required detailed coordination and strict compliance management. Works had to be planned around residents’ schedules to minimise disruption while maintaining MCS and NICEIC standards at every address. The client also required an approach that prioritised safety, simplified ongoing maintenance, and provided long-term data visibility across all systems.

Our Solution

PV Plus developed a delivery plan that allowed each property to be upgraded efficiently and safely. Every system included the following key features:

  • ArcBox DC protection on all connections to enhance electrical and fire safety.

  • Passiv smart metering, allowing each property to be remotely monitored for performance and fault detection.

  • Solis single-phase inverters paired with Tier 1 solar panels for dependable, efficient generation.

  • Pigeon netting to prevent nesting and reduce future maintenance requirements.

  • Careful coordination with residents and the client to ensure safe, smooth delivery across every property.

The Result

Each property now benefits from a 3kWp solar PV system generating around 2,500kWh of renewable electricity per year, helping residents reduce energy bills and the housing provider cut carbon emissions. With Passiv remote monitoring in place, both the client and PV Plus can track system performance across the full portfolio, quickly identifying any issues and ensuring continued reliability. The programme was completed on time, within budget, and delivered in full compliance with all relevant safety and quality standards.
